Carnival Sensation or RCCL Majesty of the Seas?

Which would you prefer? and why...

Answer :
Carnival Sensation was refurbished in 2009 and carries 2040 passengers and the Majesty was refurbished in 2007 and carries 2744 passengers. To get feedback from passengers check out cruisecritic.com. The 3-4 day trips are usually very lively and fun. We usually prefer the newer ship with less people, but then again we want to get a good deal. The Majesty trip has 2 stops, the Sensation stays overnight, 1 stop. It is always great to have 2 stops it feels more like a vacation. However, it is nice not have to rush back to the ship by 5pm. It is great you can spend more time at the beach, bar or shore excursions. We have been on both and had a great time.

Answer :
Majesty of the Sea. If the pricing is the same, you get more bang for your $$ with Royal Carribbean, also, Majesty of the Sea is a newer ship. Carnival Sensation is somewhat older and Carnival has been falling short on their service of late. So, same price go with RC big price difference..go with Carnival as I'm sure they are the cheapest...

Answer :
Well, Both these ships have been around many years. The Sensation has had a refurb in 2009. I would likely pick that one. Both ships hold around the same amount of passengers. See links below to read about both ships.

Hope I helped!

Answer :
I went on the Sensation back in 2003 and I was not impressed. I'm hoping the updated changes they made in 2009 has improved the ship greatly. If not I would say RCCL

Answer :
Take the better deal - Carnival has some on board credit offer right now.
Good luck!

How does Norwegian compair to Princess or Carnival?

I want to go to the Bahamas on a 4 day cruise in Oct. NCL is offering a convenient, reasonably priced cruise, but I want to know if it's cheap for a reason. I am going with my husband and 6 year old. We went on our honeymoon 7 years ago on Princess Dawn and loved it. I went 12 years ago with a friend on Carnival Sensation and had fun (though preferred Princess). How does NCL compair?

Answer :
To be honest, it doesn't. You have sailed Princess which is quite high scale and Carnival which while I personally love it to be honest is low budget. NCL doesn't begin to hold a candle and is best compared to a ferry. It is definitely cheap for a reason.

Personally it was my first cruise and might have been my last if everyone on the ship hadn't told me to first try RC or Carnival b/c I wrote off cruising. The food was miserable, the staff was the worst ever, and the cabin didn't even have carpet. On the Titanic I would have been 3rd class. I had to order everything on the menu just to begin to have some food (btw I'm about a 120 lb female who doesn't eat that much to begin with). It was the worst experience ever. Though I will say our friends booked a suite and it was a nice room. Huge. But between the rude crew and the tiny cabin (I lived in a dorm at this time and this cabin was so tiny you had to knock before exiting the bathroom so that the other person could climb back on the bed--no exaggeration), I would never ever sail NCL again even if it was free.

Especially since you have done Princess and truly have an excellent line to compare it to, I can't imagine going on NCL.

Answer :
NCL is considered to be in a category one step below Princess. With any line, some ships will be better than others because of decisions made by the department heads. We were just on an NCL and is was great except for the food and food service. Princess is a great line, but not as geared to children as the other two. Nevertheless, if you are only going on a 4 day, I would go with the lowest price. NCL ships are nice, as clean as any, have improved amenities in the cabins, and have some really great cruise directors. Any other questions, feel free to contact me. Info below under source.

Answer :
Princess is definitely going to be a higher category of cruise (and likely price) compared to Norwegian and Carnival. All run good ships, of course, but NCL and Carnival cut corners a bit more in order to offer lower prices. Royal Caribbean is one of my personal favorites, but will definitely cost a bit more.

Answer :
i will be very honest, NCL is not a great cruise line to be cruising with. i have been on all and i think princess and carnival is just SOOOOO much better. NCL offers crappy food and the service is not great. But i guess you get what you pay for. If you feel NCL is offering a good deal... go with it ! but personally i won't be cruising with NCL for a while i would rather pay a bit more for a better vacation.

Answer :
I have only sailed with Princess(I love them), but if you read in cruise critic, many people have complaints about NCL. Even recent cruises, people are not happy with them. It is good that you are questioning them, but you know the old saying, you get what you pay for is very true.

Answer :
Ncl is a great cruise line! Similar to princess but probably the most elegant out of all the cruise lines. There is a variety of things to do on NCL you will Have a great time!

I am going on the Carnival Sensation, can anyone tell me if they close the pools while in port the whole time?

We will be in port for 2 days and just couldn't imagine they closed the pools that entire time............errrrrrrrrrrr

Answer :
The pools will be open while the ship is in port - and they will not be crowded!

Answer :
What makes you think they close the POOLS in port? The BARS are closed because they can't sell alcohol in port... but the POOLS?

For that matter... if all you want to do is hang around a pool.. then stay home... but if you want some fun when in port the GO TO A BEACH.

My suite is located in the BACK (faceng rear) of Carnival Sensation, what can I expect?

My suite is located in the BACK (faceng rear) of Carnival Sensation, what can I expect?

Answer :
I have sailed on Imagination and Inspiration, two sister ships, and I did not feel any motion at all in any part of the ship. I sailed in March and April. If you go in the fall you may feel more. Carnival has some of the best stabilizers in the business. I am VERY sensitive to motion. You have a suite... I'm jealous. Pack me in you suitcase??? LOL Seriously you'll have a great time. (And call it the stern)

Answer :
An excellent view of the wake and ports as you leave. If you run into heavy seas, you may notice the action more than if you were amidships but less than if you had a bow suite. You'll probably spend more time on deck and around the pool than in the suite anyway.

How were the victims of hurricane Katrina who occupied the 3 Carnival cruise ships treated- like passengers?

When Hurricane Katrina hit and carnival sent 3 ships to house victims, how did it work? Were they treated like passengers? What food did they eat? Did they get to have entertainment? What rooms were used? Did some get inside rooms, some suites, some balconies? Were they able to use the pool? What was it like? Did they get regular room cleaning? To sum it up, did they get everything a normal passenger would when they stayed on the carnival ecstasy, carnival sensation, and carnival holiday?

Answer :
Let me assure you Carnival didn't offer these ships as a "Good Will" gesture...The taxpayer payed a handsome price for those ships, and it was agreed up front the taxpayer would re-furbish all 3 ships.
The ships were completely trashed!
Everytime I turn around, Katrina bites me.. (the taxpayer) in the butt!

Answer :
Why didn't the government bring in an aircraft carrier and offer to use their ships ? Instead of paying a leasing contract with Carnival.

Answer :
The cruise ships were leased to the government for use as HOUSING for Hurricane Katrina Refugees. That s alot different than being on a cruise.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/spec…

Answer :
They weren't "on a cruise". The government leased the ships for housing only.

There were simple meals made available - mostly the buffet type.

All shops and entertainment venues were closed - including the casino.

Answer :
Well the ships were sent here by the companies that owned them as a good will gesture. That deserves a thank you. The leasing issue was only to help Police, Firefighters, and first responders have a place to house their families while they worked on restoration of the city and local area.
No it was not a Cruise, and many families lived on board in separated areas. There was a no alcohol rule in effect, but we all know those are only honored by the honest people. Yes even Police and Firefighters brought alcohol on board. the ships were a blessing however.
Remember it was an emergency situation. The ships allowed families to be together and that was a big step forward at a time when the city needed it.

Answer :
they did offer free arcade to the kids as aposed to making them pay but kids were breaking the games. people actually vandolized some of the areas which is sad. there were some people that yelled cause they didnt like the food etc... whatever cause it was free and some people had to go to shleters. they got to use the pools but people again vandolized some areas. nopw i dont know if it happend to all the ships but i know on one this happend. one of my friends were on one for this reason and they only stayed for two weeks cause their fellow citizens ruined it. she said that they were treated good and that they had people cleaning etc just like a cruise. its a shame that carnival helps out and people ruin it.
