Hey everyone, my family and I are going to board the carnival sensation to the Bahamas. Has anyone been there before and can u tell me more about it. Are there any arcades? Is the food free? How big are the cabins? What fun is there for teenagers? How is the staff? What fun is there in the Bahamas? Im really excited to go to but there Ive been told about the tropical storm Fay they have up there? I hope nothing serious happens. Do you think it will affect our ship or my fun? Sorry for so many questions but thanks for reading!! Please write back!
Answer :
I was on the Sensation in 2001, stayed in a stateroom on Empress deck. It was a standard inside cabin with two single beds in an L shape. The cabin was cold. I requested two extra blankets the first night; my steward brought one, and I disassembled the other bed for the blanket two nights straight before the steward decided to save himself the hassle of making two beds by bringing the second blanket.
There was an arcade, the food is free, and there is plenty of it. It was good. The dining staff was nice, and the entertainment was great.
The ships will plan alternative ports if a storm makes an original port of call unavailable. A few years ago I went the Caribbean and a hurricane damaged the Grand Caymans; the ship went elsewhere. Overall, storms shouldn't affect your experience too much.
Answer :
teenagers have others to meet and activities on board. cabins are medium sized. Most food is free. Some things cost extra. Soda is extra.
google bahamas and you are likely to get some info

Has anyone been on the cruise ship carnival sensations??
I was just curious has anyone been on the cruise ship carnival sensation?? I've been on royal but never carnival any input would be great I leave in August.
Answer :
I worked as the Casino Manager on the Carnival Sensation and had a fabulous time, even as staff. The atmosphere is great as it is a little older than the big ones. It is very nicely done out though and she doesn't really show her age as much as some older ships. If she is going out of New Orleans still then she is definately worth a cruise.
Answer :
Went on it last summer. And it's great. Like the person above me, it is one of the older ships on the Carnival fleet. But still a great ship. You'll enjoy it.
Answer :
if i could afford to i would love to go..i hear its lots of fun..it would be an adventure..you have fun and a safe trip,,let us know all about it when you get back darling..

HoneyMoon Cruise on Carnival Sensation?? First-Time Cruiser!!?
My fiance and I booked a 4-day cruise to the Freeport and Nassau, Bahamas for our honeymoon on the Carnival Sensation. We are both First-time cruisers and are very excited, we just dont know what to think!!! We also booked the Freeport Snorkling shore excursion. What should we wear on the Formal Night? What are the prices of the Fountain Fun Cards and alcoholic beverages? Are the prices of pictures outrageous? What are some fun things to see and do on our days in Freeport and Nassau?? I have heard about some onboard saving booklets, does anyone know about those?? What kind of clothes do most people wear on their days?? Any input and answers would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks so much!!
Answer :
Man, you guys are going to have a GREAT time. For formal night, they don't turn anyone away, but HE should probably at least wear a tie with a button-down shirt and SHE should at least wear a church-appropriate dress. Anything less than that and you might feel uncomfortable.
Fountain cards are expensive. Fro a 4 day cruise, expect to pay $24 per person plus 15% built-in gratuity. If you buy the fountain card in port, you will also pay taxes. I usually bring a six-pack of 20 oz. sodas, which Carnival allows, and skip out on the fountain card. Your room attendant will keep them cold for you if you bring a crushable cooler. Alcoholic drinks usually run $5-7. Always look for their Drink of the Day, which is a little cheaper.
I have been to Nassau. Atlantis is there. there is an aquarium and a water park there. They also have a casino you can check out. Snorkeling is always fun, so if you have that booked already I doubt you will be disappointed. the savings booklets are mostly worthless but get it anyway. I wouldn't lose sleep if I didn't grab it however. We walked around and shopped last time we were in the Bahamas. Remember that haggling is expected. Never feel bad about it and never pay the "sticker" price for clothes or souvenirs.
Clothes. In addition to something nice to wear for Formal night, pack a couple bathing suits, a couple pairs of shorts and some casual dinner clothes. I'm a guy and wore swim trunks about every day with a T shirt. I changed into jeans and a polo for dinner.
Pictures. I seem to remember them being $6-7 for the pictures the take of you as you enter the ship and arrive at port, etc.
Message me if you have any other questions.
Answer :
eke! you'll have fun! For the formal night, where a nice dress and maybe some pearls(:

Answer :
also go to cruisecritic.com . you can find others who have gone there before you.
cocktail dress/slacks/tie for formal nights
have a wonderful time.
Answer :
In Free port, many people go to the My Lucya area where all the hotels / resorts are. Nassau is kinda a dirty city, I would recommend you find some kind of water bases excusion. If time permits, see if you can do a Stuart Cove snorkle or dive trip. If not the rainbow reef excrusion is fun if you just want to chill out and get wet. The fountain fun cards are expensive but they are pretty convienient. I tend to drink more soft drinks while on a cruise because the pool deck, casino, theater area etc will be hot. You can always get free ice tea, juices etc on the lido deck. As someone else mentioned, you can bring a 12 pack or so of soda. I would get a big insulated cup and carry it around with me. I think the drinks are about 6.95 ( I don't drink so I am not sure). Photos are very expensive but they are good quality. As far as the booklets, sometimes a travel agent will send a coupon book. YOu can save a few bucks with them here and there but they are mostly things like, buy something, get a discount on a 2nd item or spa discounts etc. As far as clothing, during the day, most people are running around in shorts and t-shirts. For dinner people dress in business or business casual attire, there will be one formal night. Most people wear suits on formal night.
Answer :
Hey whats going on! We are in a similar situation and will also be on that Cruise.. the 24th-28th right? Well the bad news is, it will be raining the whole time in Freeport and Nassau, so not sure if they will still do the snorkeling. Maybe contact Carnival and ask. As far as formal dinner, probably like a shirt and tie for the guy and a nice or semi-formal/formal dress for her. I think alcohol is about $7+ per drink. The fountain fun cards run like $30 or more. It will be very humid and hot and wet because of the thunderstorms. So dress in shorts and bring an umbrella. Maybe we'll see you there!
Answer :
congrats! me and my fiance are doing the same thing except we leave on the 14th! i have been on this boat before its a lot of fun and for a 1st time cruiser its breath taking its amazing to see it. You dont even know your on the boat. If you get sea sick i suggest taking some dramamine the first night! but after the first night youll be fine. I was. they have amazing food and just wear something very comfortable and cute for the dinner. Be careful in the bahamas there are a lot of people who want your money. They will offer you free jewlry for a donation, if you dont donate what they want they will take your " free" jewlrey back so, be ware of that, also the cab drivers are crazy! i recomend enjoying the day and get an early start because around 5:30 everything kind of closes in nassau, its not to safe i dont think, if you know where your going their are a few clubs open. I didnt risk it. They also have a great flea market right when you get off the boat! very nice!! if you have long hair the women want to braid your hair. The fountain cards are not 30 dollars as someone said, you load them up or pay like 10 dollars and drink as much as you want that day. alcohol is about 5-7 dollars. they have special drink days so learn more about that those are cheaper! plus you will get the best sleep of your life, the beds and pillows are the best youll want to take them home with you!! Have fun!! and congrats to all of us brides to be!!!

Anyone cruise Carnival Sensation in November?
Planing to take the children on a cruise this November on Carnival Cruise Lines, Boat Sensation to the Bahamas. This will be our first cruise and I just wanted some insight of what I should pack and shouldn't pack. What to expect by me traveling the ocean in November.
Also the ages at the time of the cruise for the children will be 2yrs, 13yrs, 14yrs, 17yrs. Do I still pack a car seat (here in Michigan it's mantory for a child under the age of 8 to be in a car seat), am I allowed to pack my own stroller or do I rent.
Any help will be apprechiated.
Answer :
I see that no a single answer has been posted......so I'll tell you our experience. We cruised during the last week of November. We anticipated "tropical" weather. On our departure a cold front was working it's way across the southeast. It was windy.....so windy that the top level of the ship never opened. The seas were high and the water was sloshing out of the pool. If anyone ever tells you that large cruise vessels are not subject to waves and causing sea sickness.....they are lying. There was a roaming vomit patrol and barf bags conveniently located through out the ship. Make sure you bring coats.....it gets cold.....your at sea and winter is approaching. "Fun Day at Sea" can be miserable.
Now the good stuff. The food was okay......but certainly not what they claim. The kids program on Carnival is outstanding. It was very obvious ALL the kids had a great time.
If you want to make it reasonably certain that you enjoy yourselves......go further south than the Bahamas. The West Indies (Leewards) is very nice during late November. It's warmer.....and that alone makes for a huge difference.

Carnival Sensation Cruise to Bahamas?
Anyone ever been?? Highs and Lows?? We are going to go for a three day cruise on carnival to the bahamas in march!
Answer :
The only low for me was that by the time I had settled in for the cruise it was over...Have Fun!
Answer :
That is a fun cruise to go on! I did the 3 day on the Fascination. It is pretty much the same thing. When you wake up Saturday morning you will be in the Bahamas. If you haven't planned an excursion through Carnival it is okay. You can walk right up the the excursion people and pay them as well. We did a historical tour that was okay. Then back to the ship for some lunch and then we did a booze cruise. That was also formal night, but we had late seating at dinner so we were not rushed. It is a great getaway for the weekend. It does go by fast! Just when you get the ship figured out it is time to leave! You will have a great time! Happy cruising!
You can also check out cruisecritic.com They have a ton of Information there on their message boards!
Answer :
You will love it!! I went on the 5 day Carnival Imagination to the Bahamas and the only low was getting off the boat the last day.
