Carnival Sensation or RCCL Majesty of the Seas?

Which would you prefer? and why...

Answer :
Carnival Sensation was refurbished in 2009 and carries 2040 passengers and the Majesty was refurbished in 2007 and carries 2744 passengers. To get feedback from passengers check out cruisecritic.com. The 3-4 day trips are usually very lively and fun. We usually prefer the newer ship with less people, but then again we want to get a good deal. The Majesty trip has 2 stops, the Sensation stays overnight, 1 stop. It is always great to have 2 stops it feels more like a vacation. However, it is nice not have to rush back to the ship by 5pm. It is great you can spend more time at the beach, bar or shore excursions. We have been on both and had a great time.

Answer :
Majesty of the Sea. If the pricing is the same, you get more bang for your $$ with Royal Carribbean, also, Majesty of the Sea is a newer ship. Carnival Sensation is somewhat older and Carnival has been falling short on their service of late. So, same price go with RC big price difference..go with Carnival as I'm sure they are the cheapest...

Answer :
Well, Both these ships have been around many years. The Sensation has had a refurb in 2009. I would likely pick that one. Both ships hold around the same amount of passengers. See links below to read about both ships.

http://vacationstogo.com/cruise_ship/Car…
http://vacationstogo.com/cruise_ship/Maj…

Hope I helped!

Answer :
I went on the Sensation back in 2003 and I was not impressed. I'm hoping the updated changes they made in 2009 has improved the ship greatly. If not I would say RCCL

Answer :
Take the better deal - Carnival has some on board credit offer right now.
Good luck!

How does Norwegian compair to Princess or Carnival?

I want to go to the Bahamas on a 4 day cruise in Oct. NCL is offering a convenient, reasonably priced cruise, but I want to know if it's cheap for a reason. I am going with my husband and 6 year old. We went on our honeymoon 7 years ago on Princess Dawn and loved it. I went 12 years ago with a friend on Carnival Sensation and had fun (though preferred Princess). How does NCL compair?

Answer :
To be honest, it doesn't. You have sailed Princess which is quite high scale and Carnival which while I personally love it to be honest is low budget. NCL doesn't begin to hold a candle and is best compared to a ferry. It is definitely cheap for a reason.

Personally it was my first cruise and might have been my last if everyone on the ship hadn't told me to first try RC or Carnival b/c I wrote off cruising. The food was miserable, the staff was the worst ever, and the cabin didn't even have carpet. On the Titanic I would have been 3rd class. I had to order everything on the menu just to begin to have some food (btw I'm about a 120 lb female who doesn't eat that much to begin with). It was the worst experience ever. Though I will say our friends booked a suite and it was a nice room. Huge. But between the rude crew and the tiny cabin (I lived in a dorm at this time and this cabin was so tiny you had to knock before exiting the bathroom so that the other person could climb back on the bed--no exaggeration), I would never ever sail NCL again even if it was free.

Especially since you have done Princess and truly have an excellent line to compare it to, I can't imagine going on NCL.

Answer :
NCL is considered to be in a category one step below Princess. With any line, some ships will be better than others because of decisions made by the department heads. We were just on an NCL and is was great except for the food and food service. Princess is a great line, but not as geared to children as the other two. Nevertheless, if you are only going on a 4 day, I would go with the lowest price. NCL ships are nice, as clean as any, have improved amenities in the cabins, and have some really great cruise directors. Any other questions, feel free to contact me. Info below under source.

Answer :
Princess is definitely going to be a higher category of cruise (and likely price) compared to Norwegian and Carnival. All run good ships, of course, but NCL and Carnival cut corners a bit more in order to offer lower prices. Royal Caribbean is one of my personal favorites, but will definitely cost a bit more.

Answer :
i will be very honest, NCL is not a great cruise line to be cruising with. i have been on all and i think princess and carnival is just SOOOOO much better. NCL offers crappy food and the service is not great. But i guess you get what you pay for. If you feel NCL is offering a good deal... go with it ! but personally i won't be cruising with NCL for a while i would rather pay a bit more for a better vacation.

Answer :
I have only sailed with Princess(I love them), but if you read in cruise critic, many people have complaints about NCL. Even recent cruises, people are not happy with them. It is good that you are questioning them, but you know the old saying, you get what you pay for is very true.

Answer :
Ncl is a great cruise line! Similar to princess but probably the most elegant out of all the cruise lines. There is a variety of things to do on NCL you will Have a great time!

I am going on the Carnival Sensation, can anyone tell me if they close the pools while in port the whole time?

We will be in port for 2 days and just couldn't imagine they closed the pools that entire time............errrrrrrrrrrr

Answer :
The pools will be open while the ship is in port - and they will not be crowded!

Answer :
What makes you think they close the POOLS in port? The BARS are closed because they can't sell alcohol in port... but the POOLS?

For that matter... if all you want to do is hang around a pool.. then stay home... but if you want some fun when in port the GO TO A BEACH.

My suite is located in the BACK (faceng rear) of Carnival Sensation, what can I expect?

My suite is located in the BACK (faceng rear) of Carnival Sensation, what can I expect?

Answer :
I have sailed on Imagination and Inspiration, two sister ships, and I did not feel any motion at all in any part of the ship. I sailed in March and April. If you go in the fall you may feel more. Carnival has some of the best stabilizers in the business. I am VERY sensitive to motion. You have a suite... I'm jealous. Pack me in you suitcase??? LOL Seriously you'll have a great time. (And call it the stern)

Answer :
An excellent view of the wake and ports as you leave. If you run into heavy seas, you may notice the action more than if you were amidships but less than if you had a bow suite. You'll probably spend more time on deck and around the pool than in the suite anyway.

How were the victims of hurricane Katrina who occupied the 3 Carnival cruise ships treated- like passengers?

When Hurricane Katrina hit and carnival sent 3 ships to house victims, how did it work? Were they treated like passengers? What food did they eat? Did they get to have entertainment? What rooms were used? Did some get inside rooms, some suites, some balconies? Were they able to use the pool? What was it like? Did they get regular room cleaning? To sum it up, did they get everything a normal passenger would when they stayed on the carnival ecstasy, carnival sensation, and carnival holiday?

Answer :
Let me assure you Carnival didn't offer these ships as a "Good Will" gesture...The taxpayer payed a handsome price for those ships, and it was agreed up front the taxpayer would re-furbish all 3 ships.
The ships were completely trashed!
Everytime I turn around, Katrina bites me.. (the taxpayer) in the butt!

Answer :
Why didn't the government bring in an aircraft carrier and offer to use their ships ? Instead of paying a leasing contract with Carnival.

Answer :
The cruise ships were leased to the government for use as HOUSING for Hurricane Katrina Refugees. That s alot different than being on a cruise.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/spec…

Answer :
They weren't "on a cruise". The government leased the ships for housing only.

There were simple meals made available - mostly the buffet type.

All shops and entertainment venues were closed - including the casino.

Answer :
Well the ships were sent here by the companies that owned them as a good will gesture. That deserves a thank you. The leasing issue was only to help Police, Firefighters, and first responders have a place to house their families while they worked on restoration of the city and local area.
No it was not a Cruise, and many families lived on board in separated areas. There was a no alcohol rule in effect, but we all know those are only honored by the honest people. Yes even Police and Firefighters brought alcohol on board. the ships were a blessing however.
Remember it was an emergency situation. The ships allowed families to be together and that was a big step forward at a time when the city needed it.

Answer :
they did offer free arcade to the kids as aposed to making them pay but kids were breaking the games. people actually vandolized some of the areas which is sad. there were some people that yelled cause they didnt like the food etc... whatever cause it was free and some people had to go to shleters. they got to use the pools but people again vandolized some areas. nopw i dont know if it happend to all the ships but i know on one this happend. one of my friends were on one for this reason and they only stayed for two weeks cause their fellow citizens ruined it. she said that they were treated good and that they had people cleaning etc just like a cruise. its a shame that carnival helps out and people ruin it.

Has anyone been on the carnival sensation???

Hey everyone, my family and I are going to board the carnival sensation to the Bahamas. Has anyone been there before and can u tell me more about it. Are there any arcades? Is the food free? How big are the cabins? What fun is there for teenagers? How is the staff? What fun is there in the Bahamas? Im really excited to go to but there Ive been told about the tropical storm Fay they have up there? I hope nothing serious happens. Do you think it will affect our ship or my fun? Sorry for so many questions but thanks for reading!! Please write back!

Answer :
I was on the Sensation in 2001, stayed in a stateroom on Empress deck. It was a standard inside cabin with two single beds in an L shape. The cabin was cold. I requested two extra blankets the first night; my steward brought one, and I disassembled the other bed for the blanket two nights straight before the steward decided to save himself the hassle of making two beds by bringing the second blanket.

There was an arcade, the food is free, and there is plenty of it. It was good. The dining staff was nice, and the entertainment was great.

The ships will plan alternative ports if a storm makes an original port of call unavailable. A few years ago I went the Caribbean and a hurricane damaged the Grand Caymans; the ship went elsewhere. Overall, storms shouldn't affect your experience too much.

Answer :
teenagers have others to meet and activities on board. cabins are medium sized. Most food is free. Some things cost extra. Soda is extra.
google bahamas and you are likely to get some info

Has anyone been on the cruise ship carnival sensations??

I was just curious has anyone been on the cruise ship carnival sensation?? I've been on royal but never carnival any input would be great I leave in August.

Answer :
I worked as the Casino Manager on the Carnival Sensation and had a fabulous time, even as staff. The atmosphere is great as it is a little older than the big ones. It is very nicely done out though and she doesn't really show her age as much as some older ships. If she is going out of New Orleans still then she is definately worth a cruise.

Answer :
Went on it last summer. And it's great. Like the person above me, it is one of the older ships on the Carnival fleet. But still a great ship. You'll enjoy it.

Answer :
if i could afford to i would love to go..i hear its lots of fun..it would be an adventure..you have fun and a safe trip,,let us know all about it when you get back darling..

HoneyMoon Cruise on Carnival Sensation?? First-Time Cruiser!!?

My fiance and I booked a 4-day cruise to the Freeport and Nassau, Bahamas for our honeymoon on the Carnival Sensation. We are both First-time cruisers and are very excited, we just dont know what to think!!! We also booked the Freeport Snorkling shore excursion. What should we wear on the Formal Night? What are the prices of the Fountain Fun Cards and alcoholic beverages? Are the prices of pictures outrageous? What are some fun things to see and do on our days in Freeport and Nassau?? I have heard about some onboard saving booklets, does anyone know about those?? What kind of clothes do most people wear on their days?? Any input and answers would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks so much!!

Answer :
Man, you guys are going to have a GREAT time. For formal night, they don't turn anyone away, but HE should probably at least wear a tie with a button-down shirt and SHE should at least wear a church-appropriate dress. Anything less than that and you might feel uncomfortable.

Fountain cards are expensive. Fro a 4 day cruise, expect to pay $24 per person plus 15% built-in gratuity. If you buy the fountain card in port, you will also pay taxes. I usually bring a six-pack of 20 oz. sodas, which Carnival allows, and skip out on the fountain card. Your room attendant will keep them cold for you if you bring a crushable cooler. Alcoholic drinks usually run $5-7. Always look for their Drink of the Day, which is a little cheaper.

I have been to Nassau. Atlantis is there. there is an aquarium and a water park there. They also have a casino you can check out. Snorkeling is always fun, so if you have that booked already I doubt you will be disappointed. the savings booklets are mostly worthless but get it anyway. I wouldn't lose sleep if I didn't grab it however. We walked around and shopped last time we were in the Bahamas. Remember that haggling is expected. Never feel bad about it and never pay the "sticker" price for clothes or souvenirs.

Clothes. In addition to something nice to wear for Formal night, pack a couple bathing suits, a couple pairs of shorts and some casual dinner clothes. I'm a guy and wore swim trunks about every day with a T shirt. I changed into jeans and a polo for dinner.

Pictures. I seem to remember them being $6-7 for the pictures the take of you as you enter the ship and arrive at port, etc.

Message me if you have any other questions.

Answer :
eke! you'll have fun! For the formal night, where a nice dress and maybe some pearls(:

IN Nassau there is this shop that has designer purses for very cheap! i got my coach purse there. I'm not exactly sure whats its called but its there (look at sources for more info!)

Wear something cool. (:

Answer :
also go to cruisecritic.com . you can find others who have gone there before you.

cocktail dress/slacks/tie for formal nights

have a wonderful time.

Answer :
In Free port, many people go to the My Lucya area where all the hotels / resorts are. Nassau is kinda a dirty city, I would recommend you find some kind of water bases excusion. If time permits, see if you can do a Stuart Cove snorkle or dive trip. If not the rainbow reef excrusion is fun if you just want to chill out and get wet. The fountain fun cards are expensive but they are pretty convienient. I tend to drink more soft drinks while on a cruise because the pool deck, casino, theater area etc will be hot. You can always get free ice tea, juices etc on the lido deck. As someone else mentioned, you can bring a 12 pack or so of soda. I would get a big insulated cup and carry it around with me. I think the drinks are about 6.95 ( I don't drink so I am not sure). Photos are very expensive but they are good quality. As far as the booklets, sometimes a travel agent will send a coupon book. YOu can save a few bucks with them here and there but they are mostly things like, buy something, get a discount on a 2nd item or spa discounts etc. As far as clothing, during the day, most people are running around in shorts and t-shirts. For dinner people dress in business or business casual attire, there will be one formal night. Most people wear suits on formal night.

Answer :
Hey whats going on! We are in a similar situation and will also be on that Cruise.. the 24th-28th right? Well the bad news is, it will be raining the whole time in Freeport and Nassau, so not sure if they will still do the snorkeling. Maybe contact Carnival and ask. As far as formal dinner, probably like a shirt and tie for the guy and a nice or semi-formal/formal dress for her. I think alcohol is about $7+ per drink. The fountain fun cards run like $30 or more. It will be very humid and hot and wet because of the thunderstorms. So dress in shorts and bring an umbrella. Maybe we'll see you there!

Answer :
congrats! me and my fiance are doing the same thing except we leave on the 14th! i have been on this boat before its a lot of fun and for a 1st time cruiser its breath taking its amazing to see it. You dont even know your on the boat. If you get sea sick i suggest taking some dramamine the first night! but after the first night youll be fine. I was. they have amazing food and just wear something very comfortable and cute for the dinner. Be careful in the bahamas there are a lot of people who want your money. They will offer you free jewlry for a donation, if you dont donate what they want they will take your " free" jewlrey back so, be ware of that, also the cab drivers are crazy! i recomend enjoying the day and get an early start because around 5:30 everything kind of closes in nassau, its not to safe i dont think, if you know where your going their are a few clubs open. I didnt risk it. They also have a great flea market right when you get off the boat! very nice!! if you have long hair the women want to braid your hair. The fountain cards are not 30 dollars as someone said, you load them up or pay like 10 dollars and drink as much as you want that day. alcohol is about 5-7 dollars. they have special drink days so learn more about that those are cheaper! plus you will get the best sleep of your life, the beds and pillows are the best youll want to take them home with you!! Have fun!! and congrats to all of us brides to be!!!

Anyone cruise Carnival Sensation in November?

Planing to take the children on a cruise this November on Carnival Cruise Lines, Boat Sensation to the Bahamas. This will be our first cruise and I just wanted some insight of what I should pack and shouldn't pack. What to expect by me traveling the ocean in November.

Also the ages at the time of the cruise for the children will be 2yrs, 13yrs, 14yrs, 17yrs. Do I still pack a car seat (here in Michigan it's mantory for a child under the age of 8 to be in a car seat), am I allowed to pack my own stroller or do I rent.

Any help will be apprechiated.

Answer :
I see that no a single answer has been posted......so I'll tell you our experience. We cruised during the last week of November. We anticipated "tropical" weather. On our departure a cold front was working it's way across the southeast. It was windy.....so windy that the top level of the ship never opened. The seas were high and the water was sloshing out of the pool. If anyone ever tells you that large cruise vessels are not subject to waves and causing sea sickness.....they are lying. There was a roaming vomit patrol and barf bags conveniently located through out the ship. Make sure you bring coats.....it gets cold.....your at sea and winter is approaching. "Fun Day at Sea" can be miserable.

Now the good stuff. The food was okay......but certainly not what they claim. The kids program on Carnival is outstanding. It was very obvious ALL the kids had a great time.

If you want to make it reasonably certain that you enjoy yourselves......go further south than the Bahamas. The West Indies (Leewards) is very nice during late November. It's warmer.....and that alone makes for a huge difference.

Carnival Sensation Cruise to Bahamas?

Anyone ever been?? Highs and Lows?? We are going to go for a three day cruise on carnival to the bahamas in march!

Answer :
The only low for me was that by the time I had settled in for the cruise it was over...Have Fun!

Answer :
That is a fun cruise to go on! I did the 3 day on the Fascination. It is pretty much the same thing. When you wake up Saturday morning you will be in the Bahamas. If you haven't planned an excursion through Carnival it is okay. You can walk right up the the excursion people and pay them as well. We did a historical tour that was okay. Then back to the ship for some lunch and then we did a booze cruise. That was also formal night, but we had late seating at dinner so we were not rushed. It is a great getaway for the weekend. It does go by fast! Just when you get the ship figured out it is time to leave! You will have a great time! Happy cruising!

You can also check out cruisecritic.com They have a ton of Information there on their message boards!

Answer :
You will love it!! I went on the 5 day Carnival Imagination to the Bahamas and the only low was getting off the boat the last day.

The carnival sensation?

I just got back from this cruise (yesterday), I did not like it. My first time cruising Carnival. The employees were great, but the food was not how people rave about. And the boat rocked so bad the last night...you could not even stand straight. Is it because the Sensation is old.....or is it just Carnival line. The food was like college cafeteria food (excluding the captain's Dinner).

Answer :
if you did not eat in the dining room every night, I can say yes, you got buffet type foods. or cafeteria type food.

It also depends on what you had.

the sensation has a stabalizer problem hince the reason it is in port canaveral and not NOLA.

you probably also hit a rain storm at sea on Saturday. I know they were showing real hard storms in that area on the map.

It is not all carnival ships that are like that. The sensation is due for referb (6 weeks) in Jan/Feb. returning on Feb 14.

before you give up on Carnival, try another ship.

We only cruise Carnival and have been on Sensation 2 times. and headed to Glory for the 3rd time in just 32 days.

I am a first time cruiser on Carnival Cruises and I would like to know more about Carnival Sensation

I am a first time cruiser on Carnival Cruises and I would like to know more about Carnival Sensation

Answer :
well.............small ship...................if you like crazy parties..........this is your line..........if you like luxerious relaxing vacations with great service but you can still party and without wild surroundings............. cruise Princess and not carnival!

Answer :
Carnival is the best. You will have a ball. I went on the Sensation, that was my first cruise. It is an older boat but they are constantly remodeling them. I just came back from one two weeks ago on the Carnival Valor. I have friends that have gone on other cruise lines and they say that Carnival is the one they like the most.

Answer :
my first cruise was on the sensation.
its a bit small compared to the other ships but you wont notice since its your first cruise.
unless they have redone the ship recently expect to see a lot of purple when you first walk on.. that what i remember best..all the purple.
after the first day itll be pretty easy to find your way around the ship and youll enjoy yourself

have fun!!

Answer :
I've heard very negative things about carnival. They certainly do have their fans however. I would cruise with Royal Caribbean.

carnival are the party boats. the most fun ones. they are soooo amazing. its unbelievable. you hava to try it yourself

Does anyone have ideas of how to make a group cruise the most fun?(Carnival Sensation)?

Does anyone have ideas of how to make a group cruise the most fun?(Carnival Sensation)?

Answer :
Hi, This is Mike from Pa. and we just got back from the Bahamas on sept. 20th. on the carnaval sensation! What a ship. We had a load of fun. They offer all kind of group activities. Vollyball and basket ball for one. They did the "newlywed" game. Very funny. They have the casino and kareoki. If you get a chance Port Canaveral Had a lot to offer also. Cape Canaveral is only minutes away.

Answer :
Party.....morning,day and night......

Seriously, plan a excursion at every port. (Shopping, snorkeling, sight seeing etc) Go to all the shows. Check the itinerary of ship activities on cruising days and sign up.
Research things to do and see.
here is a great website to check out

Don't forget to just relax and read a book on deck.

Enjoy.)

Carnival Sensation what can I expect???

I will be going on the Carnival Sensation for a 3 day cruise for a wedding in September. Never been on a cruise, how much do you think I will spend daily and is 3 days to short to do a lot of activities?? Please offer your insight. Female 27y/o

Answer :
You don't have to spend anything or you can spend a lot. Meals and a few beverages, tea, coffee, and a few other drinks are furnished. If you drink soft drinks, and alcohol it will cost you. There are beverages in the room and if you drink them they will cost so pack your own soft drinks and water bottles if you want to save money.

They take pictures of you all over the ship. Let them take several and pick from the best. The more you let them take the more poses you have to choose from. It does no cost anything to get them taken. That is another thing that cost but you will probably want a few.

The gift shop items will cost. And if you gamble that is out of your pocket of course. If you decide to take any excursions off the ship they will cost.

Always take the opportunity to eat in the dining room, especially dinner. The food is awesome and you get to eat cuisine that would cost a fortune at home. Breakfast is not much different and we liked the casual fare (buffet) better.

My husband, cousin and friend went on a four day cruise. My cousin spent quite a bit more than we did because she drinks.

And a tip for the crew is expected at the end of the cruise.

Captain's dinner on Carnival Sensation?

I am a teenager and I don't know what to wear for the captains dinner on the Carnival Sensation. I have a sundress from abercrombie...and lke homecoming type dresses and a fancy black dress from White Black...which kind of dress is appropriate?

Answer :
The LBD (little black dress) is always appropriate. Add some pearls and heels and you'll look spectacular.
You should look at the Captain's dinner as a semi formal event.

Answer :
Wear what you would wear to a wedding or some other formal event. Nonetheless, Carnival is fairly relaxed as far as dress codes go. As long as you look like you are ready to Sunday church you will be fine.

It is a vacation. Enjoy yourself and don't worry about how formal you look. Others will not be dressed formally.

Answer :
I've been on those and those are the funnest! but anyways, both of those would be appropriate. but it doesn't have to be CRAZY formal so even the dress from abercrombie would be fine.

Answer :
You can wear just about anything that is clean and free of wine stains...good taste would be nice...think like-"Gigit goes to sea"... no skin at middrift...tongue rings..that sort of thing... you get the picture..but if you want to be the sensation of the "Sensation"...ignore all advice and do what you will...after all, you're paying for it...unless of course its your parents who are paying..in which case, you should probably be asking them this question instead of the rest of the world.

First time On the Carnival Sensation to Bahamas

Where is the Best Place to Go? Do I have to Dress Up For Dinner, What do I Wear?

Answer :
after the day at shore you have to dress up for dinner the rest of the days it doesnt matter do NOT go on a shore excursion and be careful with the sign and sail card

Answer :

Which cruise ship is nicer Carnival Inspirational or Carnival Sensation?

Which cruise ship is nicer Carnival Inspirational or Carnival Sensation?

Answer :
They are pretty much the same.

"Inspiration is the sixth Fantasy-class ship and is similar in all but the theme, the "arts," to sister ships Ecstasy, Fantasy, Fascination, Imagination, Sensation and Paradise."

I would give the Sensation a slight edge, though, because it was given a refit not too long ago.

"Launched in 1993, Carnival's Sensation is now one of cruising's "golden oldies." But the ship -- part of a trio chartered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency for emergency housing following Hurricane Katrina -- underwent a significant refurbishment before re-entering service in spring 2006."

Answer :
It is about a toss up. Go with the best ports and best value (price for the cabin).

What are the prices of the salon on carnival sensation?

this is my first cruise and i was wonderin the price of the salon on the cruise ship
is it expensive to get your hair and nails done
what about a massage
thanks

Answer :
From experience it costs about the same as an exclusive salon in the USA !!
LEt's say $45 for a blow and 75$ for a cut and style
and prob 50 nails and pedi

Answer :
This post is a couple of years old but should give you a pretty good idea what is available and how the prices compare.

Of course, there are daily specials.

I've also heard reports that they sometimes look for people to help them demo various treatments while people tour the spa on embark day. If that appeals to you, board early and stop by as soon as you get settled.

I was wandering if you could bring a fishing pole on carnival sensation?

i wanted to surf fish in nassau in bahamas but didnt know if i could bring it with my luggage

Answer :
Yes, this is fine. Hopefully, your pole & fishing gear can be broken down to fit in a large suitcase - otherwise the airline (if you are flying) will likely charge you $50 for the "oversize sports equipment bag" (Golf clubs, skis, etc.) Be sure and weigh this against the cost of your fishing pole. It might be more economical to buy a cheap one in a port.

You might have to get a little off the beaten path to find a store in Nassau that stocks inexpensive fishing gear, but lots of islanders are avid fishermen, so it'll be there somewhere.

Have fun!

What type of carnival cruise line should i go on?

I want to go on a 3 day cruise to bahamas. Which one should i go on?
Carnival Imagination
Carnival Sensation
Carnival Fascination

Which ones the best?
Thanks

Answer :
They are all the same class of ship (Fantasy class) so they are all pretty much identical. Pick the one that is the easiest and cheapest to get to, has the best rate, and leaves when you want to go. Other than that, have fun!!

See the link below to view the particulars about each ship.

Answer :
You will have a great time on any of those cruises. The food and entertainment are great, being at sea is fun, and the ships are beautiful. Since those three ships are so similar, choose by the specific islands they visit, the price, and the departure city. You won't go wrong with any of those three ships

Answer :
Hi, this site helped me a lot on the internet are many types of cruises and prices very good hope have helped. I find the best vacation
http://www.cruceros-economicos.com/econo…

Good Luck

Answer :
none all there boats are crap ive been on the fascination my friend went on the sensantion and there waz nuttin to do so go on a longer cruise

Answer :
Your best bet if you haven't ever cruised is RCCL. You will pay a little more but get much better service, food, and entertainment.

Answer :
I have not been on those lines, but most cruises are the same, the ship buts together a lot of activities to do on board, and there are so many people you are bound to meet someone, just look at it as an adventure - good, bad or whatever -

When we got back from the Bahamas it was stormy by the time we got to New Orleans it was raining so hard I wanted to cry, but we went to our hotel, got refresh after the flight and had the best 4 days in New Orleans, we look back on all the chaos that happened that week and laugh so hard, we were diving in the Bahamas and when we came up it was raining, we had to hold on to these little kids because their mother did not know how to swim, we were bitten by bugs, brought home a water bug that probably could have carried our luggage - it was terrific!

I'm going to Freeport and Nassau in the Bahamas aboard the Carnival Sensation. Is there any must sees or?

any must not sees. Any pointers this is my first cruise would be appreciated.

Answer :
The only Must See is the Atlantis resort in Nassau.. I also like to go to Fort Fincastle. It is a good spot for taking pictures. The best tip I can give is to try to avoid the people at the pier in Nassau who want to give you a tour, or braid your hair. They are tenacious. They will even send their children to try to get money from you. I find the best solution is to keep walking, and not even acknowledge them. It may seem rude, but they are not any better.

If you go to the straw market, do not pay the asking price. I have always talked them down on the prices they wanted.

Answer :
I´d say straw market as well, Atlantis is ok.
There´s a pub on the street that goes up to the post office that is pretty good.
But overall Nassau doesnt have much.
Freeport even less.
Bahama-Boom is a pretty wild disco if you have overnight there, but it caters more to the cruise line crew and staff, gets pretty wild.

Answer :
I really liked the dolphin excursion and straw market, never saw Atlantis.

Must not sees? Honestly, the beaches aren't so great...

Answer :
In Nassau, I would check out Atlantis. It is a gorgeous resort. THey have the second largest aquarium in the world and now has a full water park with awesome tube slides through it. If you are more interested in shore excursions, the dolphin and stingray ones are really cool. As far as Freeport, try to get booked on a shore excursion. There is nothing else there to do on your own. The dolphin, snorkel, jeep excursions are fun there.

Has anyone been on Carnival Sensation?

I am going on a cruise on June 25th, 2009 and it is my first one. I was wondering if anyone had any kind of information or tips to give me before I go! We are sailing to Nassau, Bahamas!

Answer :
I went on Carnival Sensation last March. We went to Freeport (which there really isn't much to do there) and Nassaus (which I wish we would have had more time at!) The carnival sensation is their cheapest ship it is nice for a 1st timer though. You WILL get sea sick to take some Bromine. Bromine is better than dramamine b/c it doesn't put you to sleep. Take electric power strip with you b/c there are only 2 plugs in the rooms. And make sure you take sunscreen! This cruise is def a booze cruise so also make sure you bring some Ib profin!!! Nassau is great and if you go into town and catch cab to pleasure island and then check out the Atlantis resort! There is SOOO much to do there! and for free! Don't get conned into buying a day pass. You can check out the aquarium and then take the hotel shuttle to dolphin cove and check out a FREE dolphin show. You only need the pass to get into some areas of the resort but the shuttles take you all around for FREE! it is really a lot of fun!

Answer :
I have not been on Carnival Sensation, but I have been on Carnival Splendor and I had a blast! That was my first cruise I had ever been on as well. The first thing is that you should join one of the youth groups on the ship. If you are 12 - 14, you would go in Circle C, which I went in last year and made so many good friends that I even still keep in touch with! If you are 15-17, you would go in Club O2, which I have never experienced but they have such nicer rooms than us Circle C people. :)
Bahamas is really GORGEOUS! It was my favourite port of call last year and the beaches are really nice! One of the things I did was I wnet on a boat and they strapped me into a parachute and I got hoisted up into the air and it was so much fun! The view was beautiful, you should do that if you get the chance, unless you are afraid of heights of course.
Anyways if you are interested in what the boat is going to look like and stuff, here is a view links for you:

How can i make those noddles that i ate in the carnival cruise sensation?

I went on a cruise with my family and we loved it. Now my kids want me to cook the same thing they ate in the cruise. their favorite food was when the got to make their own noddle bowl with whatever they want in it and they got to choose from three sauces. The thing is i don't remember the sauces or how to make them, i really want to cook it for them cause its going to be their birthday soon and they would love that. Can anyone help please?

Answer :
I was told this was a secret that they wont tell you- I agree with you though, so nice noodles..wish I could make them like that!
You'll just have save up for another cruise! Getting Carnival cruise deals will make your next cruise a lot cheaper. Have a look at a few sites about this and see how much it'll cost!

did you try looking on their website

Taking Bahama cruise on Carnival Sensation- wondering about dress code?

I just found out there is a dress code on the ships. I was planning on wearing mostly nice jean shorts, tank tops, & sandals most of the time Will this work? Is the dress code enforced? This is a vacation I don't want to "dress up". My stuff is all nice no stains and not skimpy just regular summer type wear but casual. This is my first cruise any advice would be great! Thanks

Answer :
You only have a dress code when dining in the restaurant. When anywhere else on the ship, you do not have to dress up at all. Shorts, tank tops and sandals are totally fine. They are even ok in the Buffet area. Cruise ships have dining rooms where it is required to dress up and have an elegant dinner. To be honest I am not one to dress up either. My husband and I usually go to the dining room one time to check it out and spend the rest of the time eating at the buffet.

Answer :
First off, good job picking the Sensation. They just did a total refurbishment of it and it looks great!!
The numbers of nights where you have the dress up dinner will depend on how long the cruise is.
On the Sensation they do 3 or 4 nights so it should only have 1 maybe 2 dress up dinner nights at the most. Usually its the 2nd night out.
But you don't have to go this if you don't want to. There is a pizza bar thats always open, room service, or just go to the buffett.
Other then that if you are just hanging out around the ship you should be fine with what you described.
Have a great time!!!

Answer :
For women; you should wear a nice dress or slacks to dinner (the cruise line will not allow you to wear cut offs)

For men; wear casual clothing ( no bathing suits or cut offs) just wear nice jeans

Answer :
Not really an answer but I am also Cruising to the Bahamas on the Carnival Sensation. I leave this Sunday. It is also our first cruise, maybe we will be sailing together! If not I'll let you know how it went.

Carnival sensation penthouse suite 2009 renovation?

I would like to see a photo that was taken by a passenger of the Carnival sensations penthouse suite after the january 2009 renovations. The photos that are shown on most sites are the ones that Carnival shows on their site, but I called carnival and they told me that those pictures are for "illustrative purposes" only. Anyone have some pictures?

Answer :
Go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Boards", then "Carnival Cruise Lines" and post your question there - or do a search on that board on "Sensation Penthouse" or somesuch. These boards have input from experienced cruisers - someone is sure to have the info you need.

Hi guys is there minigolf on the carnival sensation?

going on a cruise for christmas. the carnival sensation was newly refurbished after katrina. i heard there is now minigolf. if you have been on it and know how is it? how many holes and is it free to play? thanks guys.

Answer :
I know the Carnival Fantasy has it (could not keep my boy off it;)and that they are trying to fit the other Fantasy class ship with it as well I'm not sure what the other ships that have it will be.

Answer :
Go to the carnival website and look at the boat specs. That'll give you a list of everything.

http://www.carnival.com/Ship_Detail.aspx?shipCode=SE

Answer :
No, there's no mini golf on that boat. If I'm not mistaken, Carnival does not have mini golf on their ships. I know Royal Caribbean does on some of their newer ships.

Answer :
I'm currently planning a Carnival cruise and have their latest fleet brochure in front of me - let me look at for you. . . . .

According to the deck plans, Carnival built 8 identical sister ships at one time in their history; Fantasy, Ecstasy, Sensation, Fascination, Imagination, Elation, Inspiration, & Paradise. These were probably all built in the early to mid 1990s - I say that because it's before the put balconies on their ships. On these ships, only the Penthouse Suites have balconies.

I've been on the Inspiration but don't recall a mini golf course - and, according to the deck plans, they do not show one.

Sorry.

Are teens allowed to get spa treatment on the Carnival Sensation?

And tips about scuba diving and other fun stuff as well! And duty free shopping? And i play piano,do u think they would let me play or do they have pros to play in the dining area? Tell me about your cruise experience...!

Answer :
Teens are allowed. They even have spa specials for the teen clubs, however if you are under 16 you might need a parent or guardian to go with you. Check on carnival.com to read their rules.

Yes, the ships all have lots of shops and they charge it all to your sail & sign card. I don't know about taxes (the website might mention it though). Contact the cruiseline if you really need to know and can't find it on their website.

I'm not sure about the piano playing. You should ask though, it won't hurt you.

My cruise was awesome =)
Some tips..
Read the itinerary (they give you one every day, called carnival capers) and do research, so your cruise won't go to waste. That way you'll know all the activities going on and won't miss out on anything you wanted to do.

If you are a teen that is travelling without other kids your age, I suggest you go to the teen clubs (Circle C for 12-14 year olds, Club 02 for 15-17 year olds) to meet other teens, if you want someone to hang out with. It's best to go on the first night, as they get closer as the cruise progresses, and people joining near the end probably feel left out. I went and had an amazing time. The club also has lots of activities and games. It's free, by the way.

Don't waste all your time in the pools or hot tubs. You probably have pools at home too, and it's a waste of money to spend your entire time in one on the cruise.

They will charge you for beverages. Some are free, however sodas, other beverages, and alcoholic drinks are really expensive. If you plan on drinking a lot of soda, get a Fountain Fun card. That way, you get unlimited soda and won't be charged for each one. The price of the card depends on the length of your cruise.

Sign up for your shore excursions (like scuba diving) before you board the ship. You can still do it on board, but it's a first come first serve basis and they might be full, so if you really want to go, sign up on carnival.com so that you're guarateed to go. Waiting until the day of the excursion is a bad idea, as they might not have anymore room for you.

If you plan on going to the top of the ship at night, it gets really windy.

Have fun on your cruise =)

Answer :
I haven't been on that exact ship, but the Carnival cruise line is very laid back and will definatly let you get certain spa treatments. Also- there are spa treatments certain days that are just for teens! Check it out early in the cruise and book the ones you like before they fill up! For scuba diving- you need to be scuba certified (you take a class and get a scuba diving license) -but other than that you'll be fine if you have one. They probly won't let you play in the main dining areas, though a lot of times there is a talent show (or something of the sort) and they may let you play then. You may also want to check their website for more information on the cruise (carnivalcruise.com)

Try to be very social and make friends to make your cruise more fun!

email me at beachxbabe127@yahoo.com for more questions!!

Answer :
im so excited to go on my carnival cruise next april. (just had to say that first lol)
ok well where are you going? im guessing since u said scuba its somewhere hot.
heres the deal with that, To go scuba diving you NEED a cerificate saying you went through all the schooling you need to be a certified scubaER...
the one im going on has the option of scuba and snorkeling (obviously no comparison)....but then i saw NEW added to the excursions and it was called snuba. i was like ok wtf?
its actually a new option where you dont need your certificate for scuba because your not holding a tank on your back. You have air coming through a line to you from the boat (or w/e it is) above you while your in the water so its the same!!!
look for that option. and GL with that.
also piano i dont think so.
dining-they have different dining options about when you eat and what u eat so its not like chicken nuggets. you wont eat the same thing twice.
good luck on your cruise!!! have fun thats all that matters!!!

Answer :
Check it out here. It’s an excellent site with some wonderful options for you. It will definitely help you. Have a look

What could you wear to cover ur body on a Carnival sensation water slide?

I need to cover myself and i was thinking of a rash guard. would they accept that?

But I need to cover for religious reasons. and if you could just answer my question that would be nice. THANX!!

Answer :
I'm very sorry I do not remember the name of the company, but there is one that specializes in swimsuits for the ladies whose religions require being covered up! I saw their catalogue once, and they really looked good, and were said to be very comfortable, too. I believe the company was established particularly to meet the requirements for Muslim women. I hope you can do an internet search and find it -- perhaps beginning with the religion site? I am absolutely certain that Land's End is NOT the one you want, but the people who answer their 800 phone number are exceedingly helpful and may be able to refer you. Land's End is easily found on the internet -- just tap in "Land's End" -- and will have the 800 number. Best of luck, and have a great trip!

Answer :
Rash guard will be acceptable. Veteran Cruiser.

wait why do you need to cover yourself? can't you just wear a one piece or if ur a guy then wear one of those under armour shirt things that all the guys wear

Anyone going on the March 14 2010 Carnival Sensation?

My brother and I are both in the military and going on our first cruise for spring break..just trying to get a feel for who is going.. the cruise is this sunday so i guess its a little late to be putting this on here..especially any females

Also if someone can give me an idea of what the Carnival Sensation is like that would be cool too.

Answer :
Relaxing days and fun-filled nights are all part of what makes the Carnival Sensation an ideal cruise getaway. Ship highlights include a resort-style pool, Carnival WaterWorks aqua park complete with waterslide and Splash Park, and the adults-only “Serenity” area that features bar service, ocean vistas and whirlpools for relaxation. Carnival Spa is open daily for soothing spa treatments and fitness classes, and on the Sun Deck, a nine-hole mini-golf course and jogging track awaits those looking for a little action. Passengers seeking a casual setting for meals can dine alfresco at the Seaview Bar & Grille, the ship’s indoor/outdoor restaurant, or enjoy a fabulous culinary experience in one of the main dining rooms. After dinner, meet for a cocktail in Michelangelo’s Lounge, adorned with classic Roman columns, domes and statues, or try out your dance moves in the upbeat Kaleidoscope Dance Club. The Fantasia Lounge offers dynamic performances by Carnival’s talented singers, musicians and comedians. Guests will feel at home in well-appointed staterooms with Carnival’s luxurious Comfort Bed Collection, which includes thick mattresses, fine bed linens and custom pillows.

To find out others on the ship, join http://www.cruisecritic.com/ Go to boards, then roll calls. Then go to the cruise line, then date and ship. There you will see other folks on your ship!

Hope I helped!

How is the Carnival sensation?

Im going on a carnival cruise next week and the ship name is called the sensation. Anyone been? is it boring or fun. Im going to the bahamas how is? And what is there to do.

P.S how is there teen center

Answer :
Sensational!! lol.. All of Carnivals ships are nothing but lots of fun. Been on the Carnival Imagination which is almost identical to the Sensation and loved it. Went to Half Moon Cay which is a private island owned by Carnival and one of the most beautiful places you can see. A great beach day! Then we went to Grand Turks and snorkeled for the first time ever..When your talking Bahamas, your talking Nassua and paradise Island and Atlantis...All one and the same...The greatest vacation ever, SO FAR!!

Answer :
i went on it about 5 years ago and it was a fun ship. im not sure if they've done any re-modeling but it was a nice ship with good food. they have certain activities designated for different age groups (you receive a paper with all of that information). have fun!

Answer :
Most carnival ships are kinda the same. I have been on the Inspiration and I loved it . All the ships have a great teen center, buffets, boutiques, and amazing food. Hope you have fun on your cruise!!

Any tips would help. First time cruiser- me and husband- 20, and 23 ages- carnival sensation 3 day bahamas?

My husband and I (20, 23) are going on a 3-day cruise to the bahamas in a week and a half.

Any tips, advice, etc would help.

Carnival sensation to the bahamas, we stop in nassau

Answer :
Participate in many activities on the cruise.
You're probably going to want to stay longer =)
Go to the Casino.

In Nassau, Bahamas, you should take a tour. Tour guides will be there when you get off the cruise. I took a tour there and they take you nice places. They also take you into the hotel Atlantis. That was cool.

HAVE FUN!

Answer :
Me and my husband will be going on our first cruise also on the Sensation to the Bahamas for 3 days. I beleive we will be in freeport 1 day and Nassau 2 days. We leave this Saturday I will let you know how it went when I return. I also read on the carnival sight that you can bring your own pop with you this will save tons of money but it did say to unpack it out of original box and put in a box and just slap one of your luggage tags on it for it to be taken right to your room rather than lugging it, and if you want to drink take a beach bag with you and buy your liquier in ports and just pour it in different bottle to get back on ship. (I probally won't do this but I've read tons about ppl gettting away with this with no problem and a bottle of rum is like $4)
If you smoke wait until you sail to buy cigerettes on the ship b/c they have no state tax.
These were just some money saving tips I have found through the blogs on Carnival.com.

Answer :
Take a taxi over to Paradise Island and spend the afternoon at the beach. It is quiet and you won't be hassled by the people trying to sell you stuff. If you want to experience that just get off the ship and walk through the straw market.

Answer :
Go to cruisecritic.com and read all the message boards there. You will learn far more from that site than this one for cruising.

Answer :
The time will go by extremely fast and you will wish you had taken at least a week. You will become addicted. I have gone on 7 cruises with number 8 in June. Here is some general info on expenses.

The basic cruise fare includes your room, meals in the regular dining rooms and buffets, room service, shows, and most ship facilities. Many ships also have free pizza, ice cream at various times. sushi, and hot dogs and hamburgers.

There are usually 3 choices for free dining. There is traditional dining where you are assigned a time and table for dining. They range from 2 to 10 seats and you have the same diners each time. There is anytime dining which allows you to go dine any time and you are seated with others dining at the same time. Both are held in large dining rooms with waiters. Then there is the buffet which is usually on the top deck. It is open to all and many people always use it for breakfast and lunch.

The extras are first tips. Figure about $10 per day per person for the tips to the room steward and wait staff. This is optional and some cruise lines automatically charge you. It can be adjusted or reversed at the end of the cruise. You should also tip a few dollars if you use room service. All bar drinks will have 15% added for a tip.

Many ships have alternate dining facilities that have a service charge of $15 on up. It may be a steak house or an Italian restaurant for example. There are also specialty coffee bars that have a charge. All bar drinks including sodas have a charge. The only free bar drinks are at the Captains Reception and the Repeat Cruiser Reception. Do not assume that the drinks being offered when you board are free. They are not. Bar drinks are $6 and up. Some ships are even charging for juice at any meal other than breakfast.

Some cruise lines sell a soda card for about $4 a day. It is only for fountain soda. Unless you have 3 sodas a day it is not worth it. You can also buy a specialty coffee card which gives you 15 for about the price of 12.

There is a charge for any personal service such as laundry, salons, private trainers, etc. Spa treatments are very expensive, $50-$100. There is also gambling which includes the casino, bingo ($10-$20 per session), and sometime deck games such as horse racing. A ship photographer will be taking pictures all over the ship and at special occasions. They cost over $10 each. Phone calls in the room are about $8 a minute. Some ships have cell phone service. You are charged for international roaming by your phone service at about $2.50 per minute. There is also a charge for using internet service on a ship but it is cheaper than phone calls.

Sundries are very expensive. Figure at least double the normal price. If you need a watch you will find no better prices anywhere.

Off ship excursions are expensive. They start at about $30 and can be in the hundreds. You can book them on the ship or go on your own. The ship will not leave without you if a cruise excursion is late. With one you did on your own they will not wait.

Have you traveled on the Carnival Fascination, Sensation?

We are planning a cruise to the Bahamas for November. We have found mixed comments about the Carnival Fascination and Sensation cruises, so we're wondering if anyone has traveled on either one of them, even more so if you have done so with children. We have a four-year old.

Also, if you know much about any of the the Royal Caribbean International cruises, I would appreciate any comments.

THX!

Answer :
Wife and I went on our first cruise for our honeymoon on the Sensation I believe. It was okay for the money, but from what I hear the Royal Caribbean line is far better. My experience was that while the decor was very dated and in bad need of some revamping, the staff was excellent, especially those down in the cabin areas. The on board entertainment was awful and not at all what is pictured in the commercials. Basically there was dumb stuff like fake game shows, bingo and the world's worst magician. The food was great in the dining room but the cafeteria areas were a little lacking and only some section were always open for snacking, and god help you if you wanted a calzone. You would literally have to stand there and wait while they thawed one and heated it. If you walked away to come back after they said it would take 15 minutes they would just stop making it for you.

As far as kids, they did seem to have a good setup for that. There were dedicated camp counselors types who had activities every day for the little ones and they had their own section of the ship where only they could go. A lot of the parents I talked with said the kids were never bored and they gave parents pagers so they could be reached at any time if the kids needed them.

So, I think if it's in the budget to go Royal Caribbean, from what I've been told it's worth it, but Carnival is okay too, just lower your expectations a bit.

Answer :
I cruised on the Sensation during April of 2001. I was part of a single's cruise group; the second largest on board. The largest group was Richard Simmon's Cruise to Lose. They had the most people. I'm also pretty sure they were evenly distributed among the ship or it would have listed. I ended up pair off with a nice Korean woman after the second day.

The ship was a lot of fun, pure and simple. The entertainment was good, the pools and hot tubs nice, and the food great. The parties were also nice. I had an inside cabin on Empress deck which while not the nicest cabin I've ever had, was enough for my needs. The ship staff was friendly and the service good. The buffet upstairs had a really nice salad bar (Richard led his group through that!). The midnight buffets were nice and a lot of fun.

In terms of ships, I've been on smaller ships, and I've been on larger ships. I tend to prefer the larger ships, though to be honest I mostly look for bargains when it comes to cruise travel. Carnival just has had the best bargains, except for my upcoming cruise on the Dawn Princess.

In short, I would cruise on that ship again if everything was the same.

Answer :
Well I have been on over 30 cruises and i can say from experience that carnival cruises are the WORST for little kids...there are so many drinkers its not good at all for kids...here are some links of info:

Answer :
The Sensation and Fascination are two of Carnival's older ships. The Sensation went into service in 1993 and the Fascination in 1994. Many first-timers get their initial taste of cruising on the Fascination and Sensation and are, for the most part, younger than passengers on other lines with a high concetration of couples due to the short cruises. However the days of T-shirt-clad crowds are gone; today's cruisers are honeymooners, young families and singles as well as veteran travelers who like the Carnival ambiance. Dancing is a popular pastime for all, and late night adults-only comics bring out huge crowds.

Families are a major market for Carnival and the minimum passenger age is 4 months with no ship maximum on the number of children allowed on a particular sailing. Parents should pay "tips" on children aged 3 and up.

Camp Carnival operates on sea days from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m., and is divided into four categories: Toddlers (2 - 5), Juniors (6 - 8) Intermediates (9 - 11) and Teens (12 - 15); there's a playroom for children under the age of 3. On days in port, Camp Carnival offers supervised free-play from arrival until 2 p.m.; scheduled activities run from 2 until 10 p.m. Group babysitting is available on sea days and port days; cost is $6 for first child and $4 apiece for additional children (available from 10 p.m. until 3 a.m. in the children's play room. The dining room features a "daily junior special" each day plus a regular kids menu with the usual staples (chicken nuggets, hot dogs, pizza, peanut butter and jelly). On formal nights, counselors host a kids-only dinner at the buffet. Diapers are sold in the infirmary, and there's a turndown service featuring fresh baked chocolate chip cookies at bedtime. A Fountain Fun Card ($9 to $23 depending on length of cruise) is available for the under-21 set.

I have not sailed on either of these ships, however, I have sailed on the Jubilee, Celebration, Ecstasy, and Elation. All Fantasy Class ships similar to the two above except for the theme of the ship.

These ships lack some of the glitz and glamor of the newer Carnival ships. In a review of a Fantasy Class ship an expert wrote "the ship is still more of a tribute to the old days of cruising. Even with all of its upgrades and updates, this may not be the best ship for passengers who have grown accustomed to modern-ship amenities that aren't found here, such as a high ratio of balcony cabins, supper-club style alternative dining, high-tech fitness facilities and swank spas."

We have always enjoyed our cruises on the Fantasy Class Ships and have great memories. Of course any cruise is what you make of it. Incidentallly, we have taken 15 cruises on 7 cruise lines in the past 5 years and our kids always request we go on Carnival because they find the "Camp Carnival" kids entertainment best. Also, in a show I saw recently on the Travel Channel, where they were awarding the best of each area to different cruise lines, Carnival was selected as best onboard entertainment.

www.carnival.com

I have also sailed on RCCL. Of course I always enjoy every cruise and try to make each cruise fun. My family, however, chose not to sail RCCL again based on that one experience. My kids did not enjoy the kids activities and were constantly asking if they could just stay in the stateroom and watch TV. My wife found the food bland.

Me I just like a clean deck and a place to read, and found both cruise lines acceptable.

RCCL has 2 ships to the Bahamas

Majesty of the Seas which was reviewed as follows:
Standard cabins (inside and out) are contenders for the industry's smallest. At a claustrophobic 122 square ft., fulfilling Royal Caribbean's marketing theme ("get out there") won't be a challenge. And Majesty of the Seas received no additional balconies, so those cabins that do come with verandahs will be priced at a premium.

Still, Majesty of the Seas -- with the help of the refurbishment, to be sure -- wears its years well. I'd sailed on the ship when it originally launched in 1992, and at that time it was considered beautiful and innovative with large lounges, bars, show rooms and sun deck. Its casino was huge and sprawling, its kid facilities adequate (remember this was in the pre-rock climbing walls-skating rink-surf boarding era). Some of the newer bells and whistles may have passed Majesty of the Seas by, even now (there's nary a skating rink, bungee trampoline or surf park aboard) but, with its ever more contemporary decor -- and it's perfectly suited three- and four-night itineraries -- the ship shines.

Also The Sovereign of the Seas:

Indeed, there is no question that the newly reborn Sovereign of the Seas has a whole new look and a young, vibrant attitude. Big verandahs were added to 62 of its cabins, the dark and closed-in buffet area was scooped out and expanded, soft goods were replaced throughout the ship, lounges were rearranged to maximize space, some a la carte food options (Johnny Rockets, Seattle's Best Coffee, Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream) have been provided, and two incredible teen and children's areas have been created.

Sovereign now sails three- and four-day Bahamas itineraries from Royal Caribbean's handsome new port in Cape Canaveral, and is a shining example of what can be accomplished in a successful ship refurbishment.
Most of the cabins on Sovereign are, in a word, tiny. The new fabrics and carpeting can't do anything to make them bigger, but they are clean and new looking, and efficiently designed with great storage spaces and surprisingly roomy bathrooms. Superior oceanview categories are slightly larger than regular oceanview, with more storage options. Each cabin has a small television, newly renovated bath with shower, and two twin beds that can be made into a queen.

In a quick comparrison the two Carnival and the two RCCL ships are about equally rated and all have been refurbished to some extent. The Fantasy Class Carnival cabins are 185 sq feet, and except for suite are the largest on major cruise lines. The RCCLs cabins are about 122 sq ft, about the smallest seen on a major cruise line and 63 sq feet smaller than Carnival.

As the cruises to the Bahamas are all short the older smaller ships are generally used, thus the choices above. The newer larger ships usually sail 7 day or longer cruises.

I have found Carnival to be, generally, less expensive, and the value for dollar is at least comparable.

Everyone will have their own opinion based on their experiences, now you have mine.

Any cruise is great!

You haven't lived till you've cruised!!

Have a great trip

Answer :
In August, I completed my 5th cruise on the Fascination. She is a beautiful ship (recently completely refitted). The food is great as is the entertainment. Wonderful service, beautifully laid out, great pool and lido area and spacious cabins.

I have already booked my 6th.

I was on the inaugural for the Sensation - but that has been a LONG time ago. I have seen her next to or hear us in port many times and she still looks perky but I haven't cruised on her since the inaugural.

I think you will like the Fascination.

Oh, and I do cruise on other ships. I take at least 3 a year but always take my grandson on the Fascination before he goes back to school. He has been onboard 3 times.

I can't tell you about Camp Carnival as I have no young children. However, Carnival is known for their great childrens programs.

Answer :
Hi, I havent on none of the cruises you specified but what I have done when I need a little inside experience is I go to www.youtube.com and believe it or not there are people who actually put videos or slide shows of their trips and if you specify in the search area like Carnival Sensation or Fascination maybe if your lucky enough people have gone to the same place you want to go and you can see a little of the ports and the cruise ship itself. I do that when I've been on my cruises it really helps.. like that you can see what you like and what you dont like =)
Anyway just a thought... I hope you find what your looking for.

Have a great time!

Is there grinding allowed on the Carnival Cruise Ship (Sensation)?

Is there grinding allowed on the Carnival Cruise Ship (Sensation)?

Answer :
Ahhh teenagers...
Wait til you're an adult and this question will seem quite stupid.

Answer :
They cannot really disallow it, unless you become overtly sexual(as in public indecency). As long as you keep your clothes on you are fine, though grinding isn't much of dancing(I am a hip-hop and ballroom dancer so yeah), if you ask me.

Answer :
i was wondering the same thing!
im going in december and saw the club 02 thing
ive heard you can but it like depends on how chill your supervisor is
?

Answer :
haha i did on another carnival ship
until the counselors purposely changed the music

Answer :
Its up to you. Do you want people pointing at you and laughing? haha

What drinks can you get without a drink card on the Carnival cruise lines?

I'm going on a cruise in August on Carnival Sensation and am considering whether or not to buy a drink card. What drinks are offered by the cruise without a drink card?

Answer :
Water, milk, juices, lemonade, punch, coffee and tea hot and cold.

Answer :
All the things the other posters said, and also they give free alcohol at a couple of the events early in the cruise, like the one where the captain and crew come out and give a speech. You can't get soda or alcohol or bottled water without buying them mostly though. I just drank juice and tea though, it isn't bad.

Answer :
water not bottle water, tea, punch, lemonade, coffee thats about it

Carnival sensation Cruise?

Iam going on a 4 day cruise tosailing on the carnival sensation...my dad, me and my 8 year old daughter are going...can you tell me about the ship?

Answer :
I have been on this ship and all the sister ships....
the sensation was built in 1993..
70,000 ton ship it holds (including crew) almost 3000 people
Karoake, casinos, game shows, las vegas style shows....so much to do...WONDERFUL childrens program.

Here is something that may help...check this out...
THIS WILL HELP MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE..

http://www.carnival.com/CMS/FAQs/FAQLand…

The main decks you have to remember are:
the Lido is the food and pool deck....
Promenade is the entertainment deck....
The atlantic deck is the shopping deck... (and Piano bar)
These are the only three you really need to worry about besides the deck your room is on.

Alittle secret place to go and look out at is located on the verandah deck.... take the elevators (not the main glass ones..the others behind them) to the Verandah deck.. go down the hall towards the rooms.. at the end of that hall is a HEAVY door...that is only known to the people in the balcony rooms...But you can go there and it is peaceful...
HAVE FUN

Answer :
The Carnival Sensation was a very nice boat, many years ago, but it is getting older. From my experience, Carnival isn't the best at keeping ships in good condition over the years. Also, this ship was used for the hurricane relief efforts. So, I'm not sure how it is doing now. It did get a lot of refurbishment afterwards, but the actual condition could be questionable.

I recommend going here: http://cruisecritic.com/reviews/review.c… you can read more about the ship and get lots of reviews and some more current ones than I have. From the looks of the reviews, it has done very good since it was refurbished.

Answer :
go to cruisecritic.com you can go to the message boards and find out pretty much everything you want. loook at the member reviews section.

Answer :
We were on the Carnival Sensation about 10 years ago. It is a real party ship. Lost of young people and older people getting drunk. We went to the Caribbean and the ports were great. That made up for the behaviour of the guests on board.

Carnival Sensation?

Anybody have any advice to help a sixteen year old to enjoy themselves on the Carnival Sensation to Nassau? It's my first cruise to the Carribean, and i'm curious as to what's fun to do for my age group. Thanks!

Answer :
Hey!

I'm sixteen as well, and have been on five cruises, so this is right up my alley.

My last cruise was right after my 16th birthday on the Carnival Imagination, a sister ship to the Sensation, so I can tell you from personal experience.

If you sign up for the teen program, you'll be in the 15-17 group. There will be a teen room equipped with things such at least one flat screen tv, games, couches (and sometimes cool chairs!) and just a lot of room to hang out. I advise going to the meeting at the teen club on the first night to start meeting people right away.

Activities available for teens are karaoke, games, scavenger hunts, smoothie and ice cream parties, and dance parties, which they held every night when I was on my cruise. They were fun.

If you don't want to go to the teen activities, there are plenty of other activities on the ship. You can lay out or go swimming. There are shows to go see and there is a spa. There are also adult activities that you can take part in if you would like.

I still keep in touch with friends from my cruises. Good luck on meeting people and having a great time!

Nassau is a great place for shopping, by the way. Be sure to make a stop at the straw market.

Hope this helped!

Answer :
